response to chapters 5,6, and 7
I liked the fifth chapter, it was a very happy one. It sound like Douglas is very happy to be able to leave the plantation for Baltimore. I like that his master Daniel because he was one of the people who was humane to the slaves and treated them like humans, that was my favorite part of the chapter. In the sixth chapter his new mistress shows humanity to slaves by teaching Douglas to read. I really liked that because not many slaves back then new how to read. I didn't like how their neighbor Mr. Hamilton treated his slaves, that was just horrible. In the seventh chapter I really liked how Douglas learned to write. He used very creative ways and I really liked it. He only did this so he could run away. Overall these three chapters where pretty good chapters I thought, they were not as depressing as the other ones we have read so far.

Brad....
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you these chapters were more on the side of seeing douglass grow and expand his knowledge. I also liked chapter 5, to see that douglass was finally a happy person.. sad though because he is happy over being moved to a diffent place. and yeah agree that is cool how he teaches him self to write and the mistress stood out to me also because she was finally nice enough to teach him something.. Your blog is interesting hopefully all the chapters from now on are nice like these three.:]]
I agree with you on how these chapters wernt as depressing as the others. You did on explaining and reacting to these chapters. Good job!
