Reaction to chapter 31 the jungle

When Jurgis went back to help support his family because it reminded him of better times was good because it showed he was dedicated to his family. When an editor from somewhere out east who wrote against socialism, but the editor doesn’t know anything about socialism. That was good that the editor wanted to know what he was against. When the host said that he could live on eleven cents a day because of what he knew about food; the way he does it is very amazing to me. In this book there is a preacher who is in poverty. Even so, he still preaches socialism and the Bible. To me that is just amazing how he believes in it so strongly. The speech he gives about how Jesus was the first socialist was amazing. I bet it moved a lot of people there, or at least it should have in my opinion. When a man who I guess opposed the preachers speech talked about a bishops wife getting robbed of 50,000 dollars worth of diamonds, I thought, what does this have to do with the preacher’s speech. To me that made no sense. When Sinclair is explaining what socialism stands for, I was thinking, it is the last chapter, isn’t it a little late to explain this? He should have explained this much earlier. The very end of the book got very boring and it was hard to read. Overall this chapter was a pretty boring one to me, all it talked about was socialism.
