Now Jurgis has to work as a tramp again, I think that that is just sad. Another sad thing is that he thinks it’s better to be in jail than be penniless, in the winter, in the country, which is just wrong to me. You know you are low as you can get when you are picking food out of the trash, that is what Jurgis eventually had to do to keep living and that is just sad. When Jurgis herd of a soup kitchen for the unemployed he went there immediately and was lucky to get a bowl, which is sad that there are that many unemployed people. Then Jurgis met a woman who he helped and told his story to and she bought him a meal, which was a relief that there is a small gleam of hope yet. Jurgis then met a woman he knew, Alena Jasaityte, who told him where Marija was, that was awesome he Jurgis got help in his time of need. When he got to Marijas, it was just chaos, I didn’t understand at all what was happening. It was awesome that he found Marija again. Also Jurgis found out that most of his family was still alive, which is good to hear. When Marija is talking about her work, i think it is wrong and manipulative how they make them stay because of debt and then they rack up more debt. Later Jurgis goes into a meeting and gets inspired by the speech one of the men gave, the speech was really eye-opening to me, it was great to see how emotional Jurgis got.
It was really neat to see that you thought the speech Jurgis sat in on was eye opening. Good job summerizing and responding to the story.
