reaction to chapter 2,3,4 of Fredrick Douglas
The chapters I read were very interesting. In the second chapter I thought that it was kind of boring, just talking about his family, the slave drivers, and the main farm house. I also thought it was very sad about their songs they sung. I liked that it also had a lot of comparisons so that other people can relate to it. The third chapter was an okay one. I didn't like how it just talked about what the farms where like, but it is also good because it sets up what the setting is like. I thought it was interesting that the slaves would argue and fight over who's master was better. Another thing I thought was interesting was that the masters would whip them for telling the truth. The fourth chapter was a very disturbing to me, It had a lot of killing. I thought it was very wrong not to let slaves tell their side of the story. Also I thought it was weird that killing slaves was not a crime because it happened a lot in this chapter. I thought it was wrong how those people could shoot the slaves and feel nothing from, that shows they have no conscience. Over all these chapters where very disturbing and I didn't really like them because of that.
