reaction to Chapter 10

I liked the first part when Douglas is talking about how he got his wish to be free back and how he had avoided being whipped by Mr. Covey. Then the next part wasn't that good because it talked about how the ministers treated their slaves. In this chapter I also liked how he taught some of the other slaves near him how to read and write. Another thing that I liked was how they planned to escape to the north for freedom. I didn't like how they where thrown in jail because of being suspected of wanting to run away, what about innocent until proven guilty? I didn't like how he was separated from all of his slave friends and was eventually sent to build ships where he was called to do something by everybody at once. I didn't like how he got attacked and no colored person could do anything about it and how their word meant nothing in court. I really like how his masters wife listened to him and helped him to get better. I liked how he was making money of of the work he did, but no how he had to give it to his master. Overall this chapter was pretty good because Douglas came close to getting his freedom.
Question
Why did Douglas give his money to his master?
Why did the word of a colored man mean nothing in court?
Comment
I liked how some humanity showed in this chapter
I didn't like how the white man treated Douglas when he was on the first ship.

  2. You did a great job on showing what Douglass was talking about and I think that you should put in some more facts that happen in the story so more people know whats going on in the this chapter.

  3. I enjoy reading your blog because it summarizes things in a way, while still giving your opinion on everything. I too thought it was awesome how Douglass began teaching other slaves how to read and write and think its amazing that he's sharing his knowledge with other people. Good job :)
